Joining forces with what would become her backing ensemble in 2001 Jones & Co. released their first set Dap Dippin’ with Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings in 2002 and followed three years later with “Naturally. “Those two sets and rigorous touring schedules found the band cultivating a slow but steady and ardent base amongst music fans carrying a torch for ’60s and ’70s soul R&B and blues. With their third disc the appropriately-titled “100 Days 100 Nights: (2007) Jones and the Daps began to creep into the mainstream getting airtime on shows such as “Late Night with Conan ‘Brien” and praise in mainstream music publications. Tours estimated to include more than 250 performances over three continents between the release of “Naturally” and 2008 spread the word as well. Jones’ band also found favor with the likes of producer Mark Ronson who solicited the band to back Amy Winehouse in the studio on hits such as “Rehab” and “I’m No Good. ” They also accompanied her on her tour in support of “Back to Black.
