In addition to “Plays the Blues” which is a collection of solid blues tunes – some classic some original but all built upon standard blues rhythms – R-Tist Records will simultaneously release “Gimme Back My Money” a dozen original tunes (some previously released on regional recordings but all remixed and remastered) that range from alt-country Americana to urban R&B. “I’ve always loved all kinds of music” Dwight said recently as he pulled out of traffic and into a Nashville-area Walmart parking lot to talk. “Blues became a kind of addiction of mine” he said. “For about four years I became just obsessed with blues music. “He formed his first band in 2001 and “in the beginning it was absolutely stone-cold nothing but the blues. “”I still love playing the blues” he said “but to be true to myself which is that I love all kinds of music I really feel like I have to play it all. “Dwight recently moved to Nashville because it’s closer to his new business interests he explained.

That IS literally true. I never met so many people that can sing and play an instrument anywhere else. Besides McGroarty’s presence in the Used Blues Band Taynton is the namesake of the Matty T Band and Manina schedules entertainment for The Reporter’s annual Merriment on Main and the city’s Fiesta Days. Bringing the blues society into being was no summery stroll down a flowery path said McGroarty adding that America’s officially sanctioned blues societies must meet guidelines established by The Blues Foundation the parent organization in Memphis Tenn. Therefore the Napa-Solano group’s charter expressly states the blues society must “preserve blues music as an indigenous American art form” promote the art form and venues that host blues and to teach area students about the blues and provide much-needed musical instruments for school music programs. “The big thing about the blues foundation is music in the schools” noted McGroarty who also helped to form the Vacaville Business Club. “The schools don’t teach blues. This year they’ll be heading to the Boats Bands and Bar-B-Que. “We decided to change the name to expand our entertainment offerings” said HARP spokesperson Erin Regrutto. “We have had exclusively blues music for eight years and felt that people in Pueblo would enjoy a variety of music more than one genre in particular. “The two-day party will be held June 5 and 6 and will feature Phat Daddy and the Phat Horn Doctors Gerlock Applewood and Little Ricky and the Roosters. This year’s headliner will be Little Texas. The popular country band had hits with “My Love” “What Might Have Been” and “God Blessed Texas” to name a few. In 1994 the quintet was named vocal group of the year by the Academy of Country Music.
