I let people put me where they want. I do not believe in genres. "I’ve always been drawn to blues music spirituals old original forms of North American music. And when I started singing that’s where my voice fit. I like Motown but I’m fascinated with the concepts of simplicity and movement and emotion and then in turn trying to create music that twists and bends in ways that are unexpected. "That style of folk-blues music I would say is weirdly enough like Loveless. That style of songwriting where you have the verses and then the instrumental breaks. I suppose if I were to say there’s any kind of music in the world that feels really natural to me it’s that kind. Not just folk-blues but folk music in general. Nearly 300 third- through sixth-grade students listened today to Glenn Davis and “Westside” Andy Linderman play guitar drums and the harmonica as part of the Crossroads Blues Society. The society is a nonprofit organization that teaches students about the origins of music. Students hear music on the radio TV and the Internet Davis said and they don’t always know the roots of those sounds. It’s important for students to gain a perspective of how music has evolved Davis said.

King will be on hand at the Blues Music Awards ceremony on May 7 in Memphis to present an award named in his honor the B. King Entertainer of the Year. Nominees for this award are Janiva Magness Watermelon Slim Bobby Rush Lil’ Ed and Magic Slim. This year’s awards ceremony and concert should be fantastic.
