Irma has been a fixture on the New rleans scene since returning home in the 1970s and began to win wider acclaim again after recording the first in a long series of albums for Rounder in 1985. She and her husband ran a club the Lions Den on Gravier Street until another hurricane Katrina flooded the premises and sent her away from the Crescent City again but this time only as far as Gonzales Louisiana. Thomas has been a perennial nominee and frequent winner in the Blues Music Awards and is in the running again this year for Soul Blues Female Artist of the Year and Soul Blues Album of the Year. Son SealsSon Seals’ fiery hard-driven electric blues renewed the gritty Southern roots of Chicago blues during the 1970s and ’80s an era during which many of his contemporaries were molding their blues around the rhythms of funk and soul music or the excesses of rock ‘n’ roll. Frank “Son” Seals born August 13 1942 in sceola Arkansas grew up with the blues at his father’s juke joint the Dipsy Doodle. He learned from his father Jim Seals and from musicians who played at the club especially Albert King who drove a truck in sceola and Earl Hooker. As a guitarist he led his own band the Upsetters in Arkansas and as a drummer he toured with both King and Hooker.

The path of the heart the aftermath of love the gritty and bitter outlook that reflects upon the empty bottle of Gin lying in the street somewhere in downtown Louisiana. The feeling and the music known only as The Blues. I was 15 the first time I truly discovered it. Not just the music but also the blues itself. The lights in cafe were dim and the rain poured heavily from the clouds in the sky. There I sat sulking silently in my own mind over a broken relationship while sipping a cup of black coffee.

Her decision to sing Kim Carnes? ?Bette Davis Eyes? and its limited five-note range Wednesday night was still the topic of discussion Thursday night. Early in the episode host Ryan Seacrest even singled out Langseth as an example of poor song choice. If it is over Langseth?s ?Idol? run served as a chance to redefine her career and wipe away the blues music associations that colored her career. Partly because of her relation to older brother Jonny ? a former blues wunderkind ? and partly because she spent the middle section of this decade touring regional clubs as the blues-rock act Jesse Lang Langseth was pegged as a second- or third-rate contemporary blues act in a genre that has few stars. But with the mark of ?Idol? now stamped on her resume Langseth has so much more star power than she did as a younger female take on her brother?s popular act. Don?t expect Langseth to move to Los Angeles and set up camp in the future music stars career line. As a single mother with an 8-year-old daughter Jonesey she has real-life responsibilities.
