Walker said he first became interested in playing guitar as a child from listening to popular music of the time. “As a kid I was very much into The Rolling Stones” Walker said. “From there I found my way to blues music. Walker names legendary Delta bluesman Robert Johnson as an inspiration as well as ’70s contemporaries Jorma Kaukonen of Hot Tuna and David Bromberg. Though he’s a fan of both acoustic and electric blues Walker said his live music is 100 percent acoustic. CSTBY Michael SchrantzCLUMBIA — The Rev. Joseph Lowery’s benediction at President Barack bama’s inauguration last week sparked intense online debates about whether his closing comments were racist. But his words were a paraphrase of an old saying that evolved through black oral culture and has found a place in folk and blues music. "We’re staying true to what got us here – education and entertainment. We’re telling a story here" he said of the Monroe County Library System’s 22nd annual event.
