Recommend(“ExternalResource” “GR2008812219913″ document. URL); Greeley’s blues festival has a new name and a new partner but if you’re a blues fan you probably won’t notice the difference. Longtime organizers of the festival now called the Greeley Blues Jam prefer to focus on the music rather than the fact that the Colorado Blues Society is no longer a part of it and there’s a reason for that. Pam Bricker one of the main organizers since the festival’s inception five years ago said this year’s show will feature four legitimate headliners. “I venture to say this might well be the best lineup of any true blues festival in the country this year” Bricker said. Tickets go on sale today for the one-day festival on June 13 with 12 hours of music on three stages in the Island Grove Arena. The headliners are blues-rock guitarist Walter Trout who was a sideman for acts such as John Lee Hooker and also played in Canned Heat before launching a successful solo career; Charlie Musselwhite a legendary harmonica player who received four awards at the 2007 Blues Music Awards including Album of the Year; Marcia Ball who played in the first festival in 2005 and who plays boogie and roadhouse blues piano; and local favorite Doug Kershaw of Greeley.
