Indie-pop’s Eisley quintet is older edgier
Dallas Morning News – May 24, 2008
But we’ve been watching the blood-related Tyler indie-pop quintet mature since well before it signed with Warner Bros. Records five years ago. Based on its long-belated headlining tour stop Thursday at the House of Blues’ Music Hall that process is just about complete. The band performed with an intense and focused edginess that it lacked last summer when its latest CD Combinations was released. Its elegant setup was free of clutter. Missteps creases and burrs were nearly absent even though the songs were played with a rootsy and slightly grimy sense of purpose. Particularly on a haunting “Lullaby” and rollicking and driving “Telescope Eyes” in the 75-minute set’s first quarter the band announced a fresh intent: to rock with a slight snarl in between those familiar sunny Eisley smiles.

Jason Pierce of Spiritualized gives Ian Gittins his perfect pop…

Dammers is turning into Sun Ra nowadays and he takes his time over things. I admire that in anybody. ” The Cramps”I first got into blues music via rockabilly and the Cramps had brilliant roots in the blues. Some people might think they are a bit of a pantomime band but Lux Interior and Poison Ivy never seemed remotely like they were acting to me; they were just as genuine as Iggy Pop. The Cramps have a very dark side and they are still exactly the same as they always have been. They are totally into what they do. It’s rock’n'roll and it’s what they’ve sold their souls to.

Event: The 25th Hour Band @ Tall Timbers Marina
Southern Maryland Online – May 24, 2008
The 5-piece band features Wave Milor on harp and lead vocals Steve Remy’s and Zach Sweeney’s soulful and blistering electric guitar Steve “Wolf” Crescenze on electric bass and Chris Ruckman thumping out the rhythm on drums. Acme plays a mix of original material and classic cover tunes going back through the history of blues music. If you like Albert Collins Stevie Ray Vaughn Freddie King Eric Clapton B. King Muddy Waters and The Fabulous Thunderbirds then you’ll be rockin’ when ACME Blues Company comes to your town! Our title track “No Shortage of the Blues” is regularly in the Top Ten list on satellite radio stations in Europe and most recently No.

” Sant doesn’t want to hog the limelight though. “They all are so good” is what he says. Sant and a handful of like-minded music lovers also run the Blues Club of India. “It has about 3000 loyal members now” he states with pride. “Our club is recognised by the Blues Club of Memphis” he adds. To be recognised by numerous Blues clubs across the world is Sant’s dream. “Also one day I hope to have a place of my own packed with a Blues library with all its rich history get Blues singers from across the world to play there” he muses.
