Soft Cell notched up more than 10 million record sales worldwide and established a style that influenced other musicians. ther hit singles Bedsitter Numbers Torch and Say Hello Wave Goodbye. Ruby Turner is one of the best voices in popular music and has a voice that has been likened to Aretha Franklin and Janis Joplin. Her major break came in the mid 1980s when she was asked to join Culture Club at the height of their stardom. Hits include If You’re Ready (Come Go With Me) and I’d Rather Go Blind. Vaughan is one of the most respected guitarists in the world. The multiple Grammy winner founded The Fabulous Thunderbirds… As a guest musician he has appeared on Bob Dylan’s Under the Red Sky Carlos Santana’s Havana Moon Willie Nelson’s Milk Cow Blues and BB King and Eric Clapton’s Riding with the King. Also appearing at the festival will be Louise Marshall the newest member of the Jools Holland Rhythm and Blues Band. The event will also include a Blues School Show on the Thursday night. Allerdale schools will be invited to showcase their bands. Seven to 11-year-olds will have the chance to play in the afternoon with older pupils performing at night. rganisers say it will give youngsters the chance to be involved in the largest music festival in Maryport. People are again being given the opportunity to pay for tickets in instalments through the Maritime Museum in Maryport.

1961Bob Dylan made his first professional appearance in New York’s Greenwich Village sharing the bill with bluesman John Lee Hooker. Dylan sang an arrangement of "House of the Rising Sun" and his tribute to Woody Guthrie "Song to Woody. " 1962Mick Jagger and Keith Richards met future Rolling Stone Brian Jones at a London blues club. 1970Paul McCartney announced what he called a temporary break with the Beatles which proved to be permanent. McCartney cited personal differences which were later revealed to be disapproval of Yoko no John Lennon’s wife and of Beatles’ financial adviser Allen Klein. A week after his announcement McCartney released his first solo album. 1986A young lady named Lynda Matarazzo had her nose broken at a Philadelphia concert by Aerosmith.
