Elmore’s decision it seems coincides with entertainment bible Rolling Stone’s appraisal of Taylor heralding her as “the great female blues singer of her generation who possesses deep soul and raw vocal power”. That aside Taylor has secured three nominations for the 2008 Blues Music Awards for her 2007 release ld School. Her return to music after a seven-year hiatus has earned her nods in the album Song and Traditional Blues Female Artiste of the Year categories. In addition an album cut written by Koko Gonna Buy Me A Mule has been nominated for Song of the Year. “I worked long and hard on ld School and I want my fans to enjoy it as much as I do” Taylor said. ver the course of her almost 50-year career Taylor has received just about every award the blues world has to offer and then some. “Blues is my life it is a feeling that comes from the heart not just something that comes out of my mouth” Taylor added “I put my heart and soul into everything I do.

In 2003 DeSanto was honored as a Blues Legend by the California Music Awards. Far more than just a blues singer DeSanto is a soul singer a jazz stylist a comedienne and a show-stopping dancer. Sunday evening the young people hit the stage in a showcase of the Next Generation of the Blues. The Ben Rice Blues Band returns for a third performance at the Rogue Valley Blues Festival. Also performing will be the band Yesterday from Wilderville who won last year’s Under 21 Band Contest.

Classic-car connoisseurs can also look forward to a slew of cruise nights locally the annual Stater Bros. Route 66 Rendezvous in San Bernardino and the inaugural Berdoo Bikes & Blues Rendezvous in downtown San Bernardino on May 2 and 3. “We’ll have blues music a chili cookoff poker run show and shine bike show Dino-drags (modified vehicles) and custom-built pieces on display” at the bikes event says Karen Blanco communications director for the San Bernardino Convention and Visitors Bureau.
