Another blues musician Son House was honored in June with a blues marker along ld Highway 61 near the Tunica casinos. For Thursday’s dedication the Town of Walls will have police stationed at the intersection of Miss. 161 and Second Street and at ld Highway 61 and Norfolk Road to direct visitors to the site. The blues trail markers are funded in part by a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities with support from the DeSoto County Tourism Association Mississippi Department of Transportation Delta State University and the Mississippi Development Authority.

Folk blues and bluegrass all had an influence on rhythm and blues country and western and rock ‘n roll of today. And if you listen to the individual singers mostly unknown you are sure you’re hearing Bob Dylan or Norah Jones on some of the songs. Because of the folk tradition of course the accoustic back-up is important and the musicians make music as good as the singing. These are all sounds that influenced the evolution of American and probably world pop music to some extent.
