However meetings between the council and festival organisers were able to ensure that indoor performances would still go ahead. Most indoor music venues will be free to enter bar four traditional fee-paying venues – The Cavern Carling Academy The Empire Theatre and View Two. Performers across the city will pay tribute to The Beatles as well as music from ABBA to Zappa and jazz to blues. There will be a number of road closures in the city centre during the festival. More than 100000 people attended on any one day during last year’s event to see acts including Gerry and the Pacemakers the Royal Philharmonic rchestra and the Lightning Seeds.
