Joseph’s Historic Foundation Inc. presenters of the 20th annual Bull Durham Blues Festival announces the festival line up for September 6 7 and 8 2007 at the Historic Durham Athletic Park in downtown Durham NC. Celebrating twenty years of presenting the best in acoustic traditional and contemporary blues music this year’s line up is a mix of blues legends hall of fame inductees Blues Music Award winners newcomers and regional artists that will surely provide festival attendees the best the blues world has to offer. In celebration of the 20th year a Thursday night concert has been added to the festival on Thursday September 6 honoring Piedmont and Carolina Blues legends Durham’s own John Dee Holman Joe Thompson and the late Etta Baker. This concert will be held in the St. Joseph’s Performance Hall at the Hayti Heritage Center 804 ld Fayetteville Street Durham at 7:00 pm. Headlining will be Guy Davis and the opening act The Carolina Chocolate Drops.
Dallas Blues Festival invokes the spirit of Blind Lemon Jefferson

Jefferson played the blues on the streets of Dallas beginning in 1912 and became the first commercially successful male blues recording artist in the 1920’s. Blind Lemon’s music not only inspired and influenced such early blues music giants as Leadbelly T-Bone Walker Lightnin’ Hopkins and Robert Johnson; but also present day rock and roll icons The Rolling Stones and Elvis Presley have also performed his tunes. Headlining the festival is global ambassador of blues & roots music and National Reso-phonic virtuoso guitarist Bob Brozman. Though Kristal originally opened his Bowery bar in 1973 to showcase country bluegrass and blues music the gritty East Village club developed into the hub of 1970s punk rock and then gradually evolved into a spot for emerging bands to showcase their talents in the later Nineties. In the past few years Kristal engaged in a very public struggle to keep his beloved club open but he and his landlord ultimately failed to reach an agreement (read Rock Daily’s coverage of the club’s last days.
