Moody Blues as fresh as ever
Albany Times Union – Jul 29, 2007
A baby boomer-heavy crowd of about 5500 loved every minute of it soaking up the music as they sat in their seats leaping out of them with loud applause after energetic versions of “The Voice” “The Story In Your Eyes” and a pristine reading of “I Know You’re ut There Somewhere. “The show broken into two 60-minute sets with a 20-minute intermission was a no-frills performance. ld photos of the band Moody Blues album covers band videos and psychedelic images flashed on a screen behind the band. The Moodies didn’t need gimmicks; the band’s lush melodies and Hayward’s classic pop voice was plenty to propel this show. pening with “Lovely to See You” the Moodies served up a first set with some surprises reaching back for obscurities such as “Never Comes the Day” and bassist Lodge’s bombastic “ne More Time. ” Second-set surprises included “Are You Sitting Comfortably?” and a rollicking psychedelic rendition of “Higher and Higher” with Edge speaking the lyrics over the swirling sounds and dancing across the stage dancing and wearing a big smile. But the hits were what fans came to hear and the Moody Blues didn’t disappoint… So what? The band is still strong and the songs still sound fresh. PUT SME NEWS N DURING DRIVE TIME!Death by Baseball Cap?For those who did not read about it in the Chronicle long time peace-activist and KPFT Board Member Ken Freeland has been banned from station property on the perplexing grounds that his ?ball cap bumped Tucker Bradley?s head? as they argued over Bradley?s alleged misconduct as Elections Supervisor.

Los Angeles Times – Jul 29, 2007
Though this two-CD set recorded at Cornell University captures the swordplay of a fierce Mingus crew there are already recordings aplenty of the bassist’s 1964 performances whereas the 1957-58 Monk-Coltrane alliance had been sparsely documented.
