The Church of Philadelphia
Houston Chronicle – Jul 3, 2007
When the Church of Philadelphia’s majestic sound reaches a revival-like fervor you wouldn’t be surprised to learn the band found its sense of purpose while leading worship services in Houston-area churches the past four years. “We felt really out of place; we were used to playing clubs” says Chris McFarland about that time. “But those churches were where we found our sense of roots and blues music. McFarland along with Brian Tharpe and Joey Mathews were childhood friends and members of the Houston rock band Pale before starting Church of Philadelphia in 2002. It has only been within the past few months that the band has found its footing as an “experimental gospel” group making waves in rock clubs again. “We’ll go wherever doors open” Tharpe says. “People seem to accept our music and outwardly express their understanding of what we do more so in a club environment.

Blues for Salvador – Santana Santana Carlos
TheCelebrityCafe.com – Jul 3, 2007
The 1980′s was not the best decade for Santana. His studio albums had a stripped down sound that conformed to the tastes of the time. His music was more pop oriented. There is nothing wrong with that except that many of the songs were not very good. But he continued to be very good in concert. The music on this album has the same feel as the rest of Santana’s 1980′s output only it is better than most. This is partly because some of the tracks are live… Carlo’s playing has always touched a very emotional chord with me. The playing is so lyrical and energetic. I bought Blues for Salvador based on the recommendations off Amazon and have been very pleased as the guitar playing is as good or better than anything Carlos has ever done. Blues for Salvador is wonderful!.
