Canadian blues greats include guitarist Jack De Keyzer B3 wizard Doug Riley East Coast bluesman Garrett Mason and his band Vancouver guitarist David Gogo and a host of other top-drawer acts. Known for its signature late night events in the beer garden this year the Twilight Blues Dance Parties will run nightly during the festival on site with dancing to live blues until the wee hours. Presented by the Calgary Blues Music Association the "little festival that could" began three summers ago with 3 200 in attendance quickly growing to become one of Western Canada’s largest blues festivals with an anticipated audience of 30 000 this summer. The initial performance at the Antonio Gentile Memorial Bandstand will be by Dave Sag’s Atomic Cocktail which performs blues and rock music. Both residents and visitors enjoy the free concerts which offer a variety of music. This year’s season includes a little rock ’n’ roll as well as the appearance of a 21-piece big band jazz group.
