But here are two music fests that refuse to ignore the actual holi-date in favor of easy marketing. The bill also includes David Ullman; quirky pop-rock band John Jakes Mose; the jazz-fusion outfit Ira Jazz Project recently out of high school and ambitious; and the almost as young Wild Eyed Boys (see below). The event is free as always. Musica is the small cozy music venue.

He will bring his ?world blues funk? sound to Kellogg Park for the first time. Harper said it is almost impossible to pigeonhole his style of music. He describes it as ?a marriage of Blues and Soul music? receiving inspiration from Little Walter and Stevie Wonder respectively. The Motown sound was such an influence on Harper it made him move to Michigan. ?I wanted to go to the home of soul music Motown? he said. As much as American music has been an influence on Harper he has also kept true to his Australian roots. Harper plays an aborigine instrument called the didgeridoo that is a long tube made from eucalyptus… ?It?s a primitive instrument that one of the first instruments known to man? said Harper who also plans to sing and play the harmonica during the show. Harper has just completed a tour throughout the US Europe and Australia to promote his newest CD entitled Day By Day. He was won the Artist of The Year award at the Australian Blues Music Awards.
