Local favorites including Dread Clampitt Chuck Lawson Sal Salaz and Jones & Company also pack the entertainment line up. Most have played in previous festivals and are back by popular demand. Friday night’s headliner Tab Benoit who played on Saturday night at last year’s festival won Contemporary Blues Male Artist of the Year and B. King Entertainer of the Year at the 2007 Blues Music Awards. His 2006 release Brother to the Blues received a Grammy nomination for Best Traditional Blues Album. Ambrosia has earned five Grammy nominations and multi-platinum status.

First he played trumpet then he learned piano and guitar. He moved to Ashland via Los Angeles in 1973. “The music scene was already set when I moved here” Pinsky says. “It was an arts community full of talented people. “Setting the standards for blues Pinsky and his partners booked new artists such as Cray Curtis Salgado Paul deLay Los Lobos and Little Charlie and the Nightcats. Pinsky’s own house band opened shows for many of the bands and jammed with the best of them. Who were the favorites?”Anyone with the last name King” Pinsky laughs.
